Information Technology Systems as Publics, by John Monberg

Concerns Arising from the Tensions Defining Public

Using the four tensions that define the term "public," I point to the following concerns about the future of banking:

  1. --Renegotiation of the boundary between the public and private, household concerns

  2. Renegotiation of the boundary between public and economic concerns

  3. Renegotiation of individual and collective identities

  4. Redefinition of local

  5. Universal standards of rationality and objectivity vs. particular standards
