My dream is to make a living as an independent writer, photographer, and Web publisher. Working since 1992, I steadily expanded my Internet information efforts and have reached that dream.

Having written about the emergence of the World Wide Web in the late 20th century, I continue to navigate the online world. My Web site, johndecember.com, is a legacy of that journey.

Today, I take photos of everyday moments and scenes, use my skills to live simply, and read in the areas of urbanism, transportation, and cultural geography.

My writing and advocacy these past years has been focused on urban transportation issues. While the past few decades marked the development of cyberspace, I think the next decades will involve our remaking of real space--the world of cities, housing, transportation, and human-centered versions of the built environment.
