This list that has been an enormous help with my writing and my teaching, both creative writing and composition. Often information is given about journals to subscribe to and to submit to. I've learned about books, swapped bibliographies on various subjects, learned what the lives of cw profs are like from a different vantage point, and I could go on and on. The community as community is important to me too. If the chit chat as someone put it is a bit much, well, don't read it. Delete. If you don't want to stick around for the more serious discussions such as the recent one on form which was very interesting to me, then the list might not be for you. Some of the people on this list are exceptional teachers, but all in all, I find them an exceptionally interesting generous bunch of writers and teachers. It takes a while to really get the feel of the community. chat might be a part of someone working up the courage to post work, or for that matter, critique it. You might want to give it a chance. Why don't you tell us who you are and what you're interested in so we can get acquainted? Kate M.
