Edwards offers very descriptive narratives of the joint military-academy-industry efforts to study the components of cybernetic communication. Special attention is paid to Harvard's war-time Psycho-Acoustic Laboratory and Electro-Acoustic Laboratory.
Also, the experiments conducted by Bell Labs (highly relevant to telephones, by the way) are interesting as
well as historically instructive, and are equally relevant to the issue of how computers were developed under
specific political and cultural conditions.
