MySpace Styles

You can apply a style sheet to your MySpace profile. Many styling services exist, but I'd like to present some style sheets that help people have a less cluttered, simpler look to their profiles. Hence the term "lean style."

Here is How to Do it

  1. If you already have placed Style information in the About Me: section of your profile, first copy it over to a file on your computer if you want to keep it, but be sure to delete it from your About Me: section before you paste in new Style information.
  2. Look at the "Styles to Choose From" section below and decide on one to try.
  3. Copy all the information in the box to the right of the style illustration like this:
    1. Click anywhere inside the box to the right of the illustration, under the header "Style information to copy."
    2. Hold down the Ctrl and A keys on your keyboard at the same time. The whole text area should then be highlighted.
    3. Hold down the Ctrl and C keys on your keyboard at the same time. This copies the Style information to your computer's clipboard.
  4. Now, go to your MySpace Home page and paste the Style information at the top of your About Me: section:
    1. On your MySpace Home page, Click on Edit Profile.
    2. In the About Me: section, click your mouse on the very first available space, before any other character.
    3. Hold down the Ctrl and V keys on your keyboard at the same time. This pastes the Style information.
    4. Click on the Save All Changes button near the top of your Profile Edit area.
  5. Now look at your profile and see a style difference. (click on View My Profile in the upper right hand corner of the Profile Edit area).
  6. Once you get familiar with how the Style information works, you can adjust the profile a bit to suit your own taste with the resources below, "Tweaking Your Profile."
  7. Leave the "lean style" logo and link on the upper left corner of your profile if you wish, so that you can come back to this page for updates or to direct others who might want to set their profile style using this information.

Styles to Choose From

Boxed Sections

This style gives you boxes around your sections that stand out from the background color. (It is the style I use on my own MySpace profile.)

Easy tweaks with this style: And, of course, you might change that solid silver to solid gold (or a hex code or another SVG color name) or whatever you want. And, yeah, you do have to have "table table table."

One Panel

This style gives you one central panel as background to all your sections; this blends into the header and footer information for MySpace.

Tweaking Your Profile

You can adjust the colors of your profile by replacing any of the color codes I used to colors of your choice; see these charts:

You can also adjust spacing, padding, fonts, etc, and such to suit your interests.

Let me know if you use the Lean Style or if you have suggestions for another variation. My profile is on MySpace or email me: johndecember@gmail.com with the subject line html-spec-myspacestyles.
