I love the city where I live (Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA). I don't think its "just ok," or I "like" it -- I LOVE IT!
City at Twilight--Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Your city should inspire you. Your city should challenge you. Your city should comfort you and heal you and give you places where you can be with friends and community. Although this picture shows what might be considered a visual cliche (a skyline view of a city as representing it) nonetheless, this picture captures the urban form that has fascinated me for many years. A post-industrial city oriented to water--rivers and Lake Michigan--and yet a historic crossroads of the Great Lakes region for centuries.
I love where I live because:
- It offers a safe, affordable metropolitan environment with a cosmopolitan atmosphere supporting a range of cultural events, services, waterfront parks, educational institutions, and business opportunities;
- Its transit systems gives me access to an excellent public bus system, a great airport, and long-distance passenger rail service so that I don't have to own a car;
- Its location places me close to family;
- Its unpretentious, genuine, hard-working, and down-to-earth people fit my personality;
- Its geographic location on the shore of a Great Lake and four-season climate match my preferences.
